08/05/2006: According to MSNBC, Mark McGwire is not cooperating with Gutless Bud Selig’s Steroid Inquisition, carried out by his third party thug, George Mitchell.

Good for Mac!

This is nothing but a witch hunt designed to cover MLB owners’ butts. Truth be told, they knew quite well what was going on, and they tacitly approved of it.

While Sosa, Mac, Barry, and Raffy were jacking fastballs over walls, MLB was raking in the greenbacks. It was only when the steroid issue became unavoidable–when Congress started having hearings–that baseball got serious about dealing with the problem.

As a result, they are going after the very stars, whose steroid at which they nodded and winked.

I hope Mac keeps telling Mitchell to go get laid.

08/05/006: It’s time for honesty–both personal and intellectual–with respect to the Tour de France and Floyd Landis: he is clearly guilty.

When the testosterone/epitestosterone ratio is 11:1 and the carbon isotope tests indicate the presence of synthetic testosterone, then you are guilty of doping. Landis did it; the gig is up; it is now time for Landis to quit trying to stick to a bald-faced lie. He is only making a more complete ass of himself by sticking to his story.

Landis is not doing anyone any favors by lying.

First, he tried the Bill Clinton/Rafael Palmeiro defense (“I did not have sex with those steroids…those steroids had sex with me”); then his lawyer claimed the tests could have been skewed by dehydration.

That straw proves that Landis is a bald-faced liar. And THAT, my friends, is worse than the doping.

If he would come clean, admit his guilt, and and accept responsibility for his actions, then he would find considerable grace among fans. We Americans, after all, respect a person owns up to his faults and “does his time”.

Unfortunately, as Landis has found out–the hard way–when you wag your finger, you’d better be telling te truth. Otherwise, the backlash will be far worse.
