Realizing that my addiction to Starbucks Vivanno shakes could really tear a large hole in my financial hide, I decided to attempt to make my own. As a bachelor whose food preparation skills are as good as my dancing–which sucks–any foray into new foods, even the kind that involve stuffing items in a bender, can be quite hazardous.
Here’s what I used:
- A scoop of EAS soy protein (chocolate flavor). Total calories: 170, and about 20 grams of protein.
- A banana. Total calories: approximately 100.
- A tablespoon of Hershey’s dark chocolate cocoa. Total calories: 5.
- A tablespoon of Splenda.
- A cup of ice.
I dumped ingredients into a blender and ground it.
Probably my only mistake was not grinding the ingredients enough. I need to pretend that it’s a frog.
Overall, not too bad. Total unit cost: well under the $4 I’d pay for one at Starbucks.
