Just Pathetic

In the midst of our economic disaster, many of us–even middle-class folks like myself–are busting our butts to deal with high fuel costs, keep our spending down, avoid unnecessary debts, and be responsible Americans.

Not the corrupt, piss-for-brains idiots who oversee Bluegrass Airport in Lexington, Kentucky.

Michael Gobb, the disgraced former Executive Director, made $219,450 in salary, but that was just the cake.

The icing included:

  • unrestricted use of an airport vehicle for personal use
  • unrestricted access to the airport gas pump
  • two cell phones–courtesy of the airport–for personal use
  • over $53,000 in travel expenses in 2007 alone
  • $4,500 in charges for a Texas strip club
  • Purchasing five Bose music systems for $2,688
  • $663 for games for a Wii
  • $697 for tickets to an Arizona Diamondbacks-Baltimore Orioles game

The credit card issues also include over $8,000 in late fees and finance charges as well.

And he is just the top. There are four other directors who make over $135,000 per year. Each has an airport vehicle for personal use, as well as unrestricted access to the airport gas pump.

Oh, and get this: this is just an entity outside a medium-sized city in America. If you think this does not go on in larger cities, state agencies and their contractors, federal agencies and their contractors, then you’re not paying attention.

If I lived in Lexington, I’d be demanding some recalls and resignations, as well as some criminal investigations.
