Fair disclosure: I am not posting this to suggest that this is standard of men in general. Still, I did find myself both amused and bewildered at this e-mail I received from someone who used to run the alumni group for my region:

Good news everyone,
I just got my grade on my class for Webster University. The grade was an “A” and now there are only two more classes to finish this Masters of Media Communication (MEDC) and that should be around December 2011. This will be my second masters degree, 7th degree.

Your encouragement is welcome. 25-years of college and counting!!! Maybe I can found a way to retire from college soon. Seriously burned out on school.

Any suggestions for degree #8 are also welcome. I need to figure it out quickly. Over the last 3-5 years, I have examined over 400+ colleges around the world for degrees I either need/want.

Suffice it to say that the title of this post constitutes my advice to the gentleman.
