Through Cosmopolitan, she encouraged generations of women to make sluts out of themselves. Many took her message to heart, much to the delight of the Alpha males.
She would use her magazine to champion her vision of sexual liberation, and promote various feminist causes. Her message of sexual license was so extreme that even the feminist groups were divided about her legitimacy.
While I would stop well short of blaming the problems that women face today solely on the shoulders of Brown, it would not be unfair to say that she was one of the chief instigators.
She died yesterday at the age of 90.
