The Scandals Keep Coming…
09/08/2007: I don’t live in Florida anymore–I lived there for three years (1977-1979) and attended college there (1985-1990). But the political landscape has always been quite interesting. Floridians are generally a center-right bunch, with wealthy liberal retirees and a deluge of conservative military families. Their governors have included Bob Graham (D), Bob Martinez (R), Lawton Chiles (D), and Jeb Bush (R); Senators have included Connie Mack (R), Bill Nelson (D), Bob Graham (D), and Mel Martinez (R). Yep…Floridians are an open-minded bunch.
As for scandals, those are also bipartisan. State Senator Gary Siplin (D) is facing criminal charges for grand larceny.
The Republicans, in turn, are even worse. St. Petersburg City Council Chairman John Bryan (R) was forced to resign amid allegations of sexually assaulting his two adopted daughters and their nanny. This morning, he committed suicide by carbon monoxide.
The Grand Old Pederasts (GOP) of Florida were already reeling, as Bob Allen (R)–who was chairing the McCain campaign efforts in Florida–got busted for Larry Craig-like behavior.
Of course, this is the state from which Mark [peda]Foley (R) hailed.
Look for Republicans to get routed again in Florida next year. The Party of family values is now the Party of adultery (Giuliani, Hyde, Chenoweth, Livingston, Burton, Hutchinson, Ryan, Newt, McCain), pederasty (Foley), pedophilia (Bryan), and bathroom perversions (Craig, Allen).
Until the GOP decides they will clean their house, they can forget about social conservatives.
