Obama Wants to Wage War Against Conceled Carry

April 4th, 2008

B. Hussein Obama, the Democratic frontrunner, has always been a leading force against gun rights. That would be bad enough, except he seems to be intent–as President–on using the power of federal government to roll back concealed carry provisions, which exist in over 40 states.

Never mind that gun-related homicides per 100,000 people are down 37.5% since 1981 (source: CDC), in spite of increasing–not decreasing–gun liberties and in spite of a large spike in the overall population and in spite of an increase in the number of guns available.

Concealed Carry licensees are among the most trustworthy law-abiding citizens. Even in non-CCW states (like Kansas before they recently adopted CCW provisions), I was well-treated by the police.

A state trooper saw me pulled over, observing helicopters at Fort Riley, asked me what I was doing. He asked if I had guns or drugs, so I told him I had a gun in my trunk. He asked if he could search my car, I let him do it. When he was done, he shook my hand and thanked me for being honest. No trouble whatsoever.

I think my favorite campaign add for any of the president-to-be’s had to be Huckabee’s commercial with NRA champion Chuck Norris =)

    That was amusing.

I’m seriously against removing the ability to carry weapons. There’s a ton of people out there that can get them illegally and already do…and the government is doing a poor job of keeping weapons out of their hands. I’d think having law abiding citizens being able to protect themselves and their families would be a GOOD thing.

I’m just not certain how EASY I want it to be to attain a weapon. Though I think you already addressed those concerns with me =p
