If we believe in justice, then Madoff almost certainly must go free. These are the only acceptable options:
- Free Madoff
- Arrest every member of Congress–and surviving President–who helped raid Social Security, and every bureaucrat who oversaw Social Security.
Given that both Madoff and federal government account for the largest Ponzi schemes in world history, then either Madoff is innocent or Madoff and government are each guilty of massive fraud.
After all, just as there is no proof that Madoff ever purchased securities for investors, there is no proof that Social Security has anything but IOUs in the so-called “trust fund”.
