Goings On…

Been busier than a one-legged man in a butt-kicking contest. Ergo, posts have been fairly brief and rare lately.

(1) Married life is going well. MrsLarijani is adjusting well to Recon and Sneaky. Not to mention her hubby.

(2) She is enjoying the heck out of Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse. I figured she’d like that one.

(3) I’m reading Anna Karenina by Tolstoy. I might be writing a whole blog post about that one.

(4) I’m not working out nearly as much as I did before getting married, but still getting plenty of time on the Nordic Track, and the recumbent exercise bike. Also have a pullup bar/dip chair combo that allows me to get my strength work done.

(5) That was an impressive showing by the Colts tonight.

(6) The University of Kentucky basketball team is quite impressive under first-year coach John Calipari.

(7) Proverbs is the most under-appreciated book in the Bible. I make it a point to read it through every January. MrsLarijani and I also did this during the summer, and are repeating now.

(8) The Old Testament is also very under-appreciated. I knew this already, but–every time I charge through the OT, I gain a greater appreciation for that fact.

(9) MrsLarijani is a gift from God. I don’t just say that because she is hovering over my shoulder right now.

(10) MrsLarijani has successfully commandeered the kitchen.

Amen, and me too. You CANNOT fully appreciate the New Testament without understanding the historical context of who Jesus was, why sin exists, etc.

Very glad to hear about another marriage success story.

  2. One-legged man in a butt-kicking contest? Ok, I don’t think I’ve heard that one before, and I am trying to get an image of that … with hilarious results.

  3. “(9) MrsLarijani is a gift from God. I don’t just say that because she is hovering over my shoulder right now.”

without a doubt – and that works both ways 🙂

    hummm . . . . .

  4. I attempted to post this last night, and it wouldn’t let me, so I’ll try again.

I believe that “Without Remorse” is one of the best action novels ever written.

As I guy, there is no dream or nightmare which is not touched on in this book. Every guy has yearned for a chance to carry out the task of eliminating from the gene pool the type of scum which John Kelly so efficiently and viciously makes his mission.

One of my personal dreams is to acquire a high quality lathe/milling machine and build myself a screw on noise reduction device for my long distance lead poisoning tool, like John Kelly does.

If I had access to the movie making business, “Without Remorse” is the very top of my list in books I would like to make into a movie.

A suggestion, the other book I would like to make into a movie is called, “The Way to Dusty Death”, by Alistair MacLean. If you have never read MacLean, let me recommend that book as well as, “Puppet on a Chain” “Circus” “Goodbye California” “The Guns of Navarone” “Force Ten from Navarone” “Where Eagles Dare” “Breakheart Pass”, “When Eight Bells Toll” “The Secret Ways” “Seawitch” “The Golden Gate” and “Caravan to Vaccares”

Several of MacLean’s books were made into movies. “Where Eagles Dare”, “The Guns of Navarone” “Force Ten from Navarone” Those three are excellent, several other of his almost thirty books were made into movies, although “Breakheart Pass” is the only one I’ve seen.
