10-13

I just read this piece detailing the victims. I’ve not read everything out there because I haven’t had time … and have just skimmed some stuff. I did not realize these were young boys between the ages of 10 and 13! For some reason my mind was thinking college-age boys … not that that wouldn’t be bad. But, OH.MY.WORD!!!

And they actually let the guy out on ONLY $100,000. bail?!!!!!!! WTF???!!!!!!!

  1. My dad was railing about exactly that last night: the low bail that was set.

And yep…the boys in question were exactly that: boys. In the infamous case where McQueary witnessed the assault, the victim was allegedly about 10 years old.

That part galls me to no end: if I see something like that going on, I will have only two moral dilemmas: (a) how many times to shoot the bastard, and (b) what part of the body to aim at first.

  2. playing devils advocate and totally hypothetical … what if mcqueary had been a victim, too … and what if his was one that had been reported and swept under the carpet. the power a perpetrator has over a victim is powerful. anyway … just thoughts.

i would guess that if mcqueary had killed him, it is possible the truth could have been burried.

still, something should have been done. if not mcqueary, paterno should have had more strength to pursue it relentlessly. it really is a crime, i think, that a man as powerful as paterno would do as little as he did.

it sucks to call your friends on something, but it can be done. been there; done that; have the scars to prove it. but sometimes it’s got to be done. and especially when it involves those who cannot help themselves.

  3. Jerry Sandusky gets $100,000 bail for “dozens of counts” while the AD and another university official get $75,000 bail for two counts apiece. Count me among those who doesn’t get it.

If McQueary had beaten the crap out of–or even killed–Sandusky, it would not have stopped the truth from getting out; in fact, if anything, this would have been the impetus for others to come out of the woodwork.

Had McQueary done that, he would be the head coach of Penn State today.

  5. SH**!!!!!!! i didn’t realize that was UNSECURED bail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF???????!!!!!!!

IF we ever get to the bottom of this, i don’t wonder if there will be ANYONE in pennsylvania state gov’t or even much of nat’l gov’t that doesn’t have a slice of this sewage. CANNOT BELIEVE FBI isn’t involved yet … they’ve got to have this blood on their hands, too, to be avoiding it.
