TO DEFEAT STALIN, YOU MUST VOTE FOR TROTSKY!

That is what the GOP might as well be saying.

To be fair, Mitt Romney’s VP pick–Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)–gave an excellent opening speech on Saturday. Reagan would have been proud.

Had Ryan’s voting record been consistent with his speech, there would be little issue here.

In our current debt crisis, there is very little that Ryan didn’t support as a Congressman.

He voted for the financial bailouts of the banking and automotive industries.

He voted for No Child Left AloneBehind.

He voted for Medicare Part D.

He voted for the 2008 stimulus.

He voted to expand unemployment benefits.

Here’s the problem with all of that:

(1) When push comes to shove, he comes down on the side of Big Government.

(2) When faced with the reality of his bad decisions, he insists on defending those decisions.

At this point, neither Romney nor Ryan have provided any indication that they will put the United States on a path that is materially different from the current one.

In fact, Romney/Ryan may actually be worse than Obama/Biden.

At least Obama makes no bones about where he stands. He talks Stalinist collectivism; he has done everything he can to implement that.

But Romney and Ryan talk the talk of free markets and the American dream, all while supporting that very same collectivism.

With whom would you rather do business?

(a) Someone who sells you dog crap–telling you what it is–while extolling the virtues of dog feces

or

(b) Someone who sells you dog crap, as he insists that it is in fact chocolate souffle?

Who is more honest?

(a) The man who says he is going to rape you, and does

or

(b) The man who says he is going to be your advocate, and then rapes you?

Seriously, there is no one worth rooting for here.

    Your risk assessment is bizarre.

Either the risk that is 100% dangerous or the risk that is 90%. Its a risk – its a high risk, but its so much better than KNOWING BEYOND DOUBT your going to get raped.

I mean seriously. There’s still a chance (albeit small) that these guys will actually make some conservative choices. There is no hope at all that Obama will.

The other side of the coin is this: the choices that Romney/Ryan will make will be majorly diluted.

Then, when things go completely to crap, the public sentiment will actually turn AGAINST free markets.

We saw this in the last financial debacle. When Fannie, Freddie, AIG, and much of the banking system went Tango Uniform, the prevailing sentiment was that “we need MORE regulation” and that “de-regulation doesn’t work”.

And yet what we had was hardly “de-regulation” but rather a failure of the regulators. There was clear evidence, for example, of widespread fraud in the mortgage markets, but regulators were sitting around and doing nothing.

If we’re going to get a bigger government, we are better-off getting it from the real socialists. That way, when it fails, people will have a clear picture of what caused it.

Even on social issues–such as abortion–we have no evidence that Romney is any better than Obama. After all, Romney’s record as governor of Massachusetts shows a very leftward governance. His court picks were all lefties. He didn’t lift a finger when the State Supreme Court ORDERED the legislature to pass a law legalizing gay “marriage”.

If we’re going to get a liberal administration, then we’re better off getting one from an administration that advertises as such, not one that touts conservatism and then does something else.
