Quote of the Day

From Vox Day at Alpha Game:

If a woman asks why you’re not a feminist, the correct answer is “because I don’t believe in leprechauns riding unicorns down rainbows”. And if she asks why you don’t think much of the intellectual capabilities of feminists, the correct answer is “Because people who structure their entire approach to life around leprechauns riding unicorns down rainbows are stupid.”

Feminism is a mental illness.

  1. Just as there are many brands of Christians, there are many different kinds of feminists. In any case, the above is a truly bizarre response to what may be a valid question. Perhaps it depends on who is doing the asking.

  2. There is no “good feminism”, any more than there is a “good witchcraft”.

Even the “first wave” feminists–to which the modern feminists appeal when the illegitimacy of their movement is exposed–were engaged in a full-on assault on Scripture.

As I pointed out a few years ago, the sum total of all the “gains” of feminism are not justified by the death toll, which is in the tens of millions nationwide.

  3. I have a legitimate hard time understanding what exactly it is that makes all feminism evil. Not all women would get an abortion. And even without feminism, abortion might have been made legal. Abortion isn’t just about women, there are men who push women into it. If women were all that into abortion, there wouldn’t be any single moms at all.

With the exception of abortion, is it women getting an education? Is it women working? Is it divorce rates? Is it women being out of step with Christ? Is it women not appreciating men? I’m very fortunate in having a man who I appreciate, but let’s face it, not all men are made of awesome sauce. Is it a disdain for women in general? Because sometimes that’s how it reads. I don’t equate all feminist ideals with witchcraft. I’m not even much of a feminist. And I’m certainly not a witch, at least not last time I checked.

One of the trends I have noticed over these past few years is many women being forced into prolonged, unwanted singleness. The men at church aren’t asking them out. So, what’s a girl to do? Play the helpless Rapunzel locked away in the castle until the prince comes to save her? I think not.

  4. Feminism is all about undermining masculinity and promoting matriarchy. Everything else–opposition to rape or child abuse, promoting education for women, suffrage, equal job/equal pay–is a mere canard toward that end. Some of those causes are valid, others not so much. But they ARE canards in their functionality.

The first-wave feminists–the so-called “good feminists”–opposed Biblical masculinity, and even sought to incorporate their own revisionist translations of Scripture toward their purposes.

And you would do better to research the “women getting an education” line of argument. Fact is, women were at parity with men in colleges from 1900-1930. What changed after that? That’s an easy one: (a) men began to seek higher-paying jobs that required college educations, and (b) after WWII, a lot of men started cashing in on the G.I. Bill.

Women weren’t being locked out of college. Even in fields like math and science and engineering.

Today, one can reasonably make the case that MEN are the ones getting screwed by the education system. From preschool to PhD, the education system caters to women, and penalizes masculinity.

Ditto for the Church. Boys are being force-fed the “Gentle Jesus Meek and Mild” crap for their entire childhood and teen years, and then we get all surprised that the men want nothing to do with a Church that has extolled an emasculated Jesus the presentation of which is absent in Scripture.

No one is saying that the men are made of awesome sauce. They are, however, sick and tired of getting hammered one-sided and told that they are responsible for everything that goes wrong.

The divorce rates aren’t the WHOLE issue, but–on the margins–they DO impact the picture. If I’m a single man who is sufficiently risk-averse, the divorce rate could drive me to remain single. This may not be a widespread phenomenon, but I’d say it is going on at the margins, and that DIRECTLY impacts women who are on those margins.

  5. I was asking what “your” issue was in order to understand your personal perspective. This is different than entering an argument to “win.”

I would agree that many women did go to college “back in the day” or at least to “teacher’s colleges.” While some became universities later, back in the day they weren’t. These were usually girls who had to work or chose to work until they married and had done well in skool.

Having been a teacher, there is plenty of boy orientation going around at skool, particularly with the sports. There are also many more male teachers in high schools than any other age group. And if the football coach is teaching typing class, look out!! You’ll have to sit in your seat, STFU, and do your work. Generally speaking, though, there is an expectation that students have to STFU, sit their asses in their seats and do their work and show a little respect for the teacher. I can’t see anything directly harmful to a man in that. In fact, those are skills that serve one rather well as say being an engineer. Around WWII the military functioned as school for their illiterate enlisted folks who had fallen through the cracks of education’s evil clutches. And what I mean by that is that they most likely had to work on the family farm or as hired hands, or on the streets as newsboys, or in factories, rather than be in skool. And you can bet for that military training that they had to STFU, sit their asses in their seats, pay attention, and show some respect with no great harm to their masculinity. So, yes, I guess I’m missing your boat on this.

I’m also missing out on why some guys are all hung up on alphas, betas, game, and all that other nonsense. But that’s an aside. Just so we’re clear, I’m currently a housewife and he would rather I be working. We’ll see what happens with that because things don’t get done at home because he’s exhausted after work and jiu jitsu. I’m a bit fascinated with the idea education being anti-male when my husband was valedictorian and is every inch a M-A-N.

    • That’s an easy one: my personal issue with it is its roots. It is rooted in an assault on Scripture. Ergo, it is inherently destructive. The results are not surprising.

Having been a teacher, there is plenty of boy orientation going around at skool, particularly with the sports. There are also many more male teachers in high schools than any other age group. Of course you’re missing it. In WWII, the Army’s literacy rate was 96%, which was far better than it was during Korea or Vietnam.

Fact is, schools are engaged in a full-on assault on masculinity. Kids are now getting suspended–even expelled–for (a) pointing imaginary guns at other students, (b) throwing imaginary hand grenades, and (c) fighting back when they are physically attacked. Moreover, they are getting “diagnosed” as ADHD–and drugged–simply for being boys.

Fact is, boys are being conditioned to learn like girls. And THAT is the telos of feminism.

I’m also missing out on why some guys are all hung up on alphas, betas, game, and all that other nonsense

Actually, it’s the gals who are. This is not a putdown, as it is nothing new: at the end of the day, this talk of “game” is about what attracts the sexes. It’s not a question of right versus wrong, but rather what is. Just as men are attracted to certain types of women, women are attracted to certain types of men. Again, it’s not a putdown of anyone, just a recognition of the obvious.

The problem is that the guys–particularly the guys in the Church–have been taught otherwise. They have been taught to be “good little Christian boys”, emulating the “Gentle Jesus Meek and Mild”. That drives the women off, as it portrays a watered-down masculinity that is unattractive, not to mention without Biblical basis.

And this carries over into marriages. Men AND WOMEN are sold a bill of goods in the Church, and this often sets them each up for disaster. Everything is always the man’s fault, as the women are considered as responsible as little children all under the guise of “empowerment”.

End-result: we’re all worse off for it.

      • Was that 96% literacy rate at enlistment? Or after the Army training program? Very important.

Obviously officers have to be literate and went through either a military academy or went through college ROTC program or OCS.

From what I understand, at one time people were turned away from the military unless they could read, and then WWII hit and they had to take everybody so they trained them.

        • Well, here’s the link.

In the draft and volunteer enlistments of WWII 18 million men were tested and 17,280,000 of them were judged to have the minimum competence in reading required to be a soldier, a 96 percent literacy rate. Most of these men were schooled in the late 1920’s and 1930’s.

          • I’ll have to look into this further to see where these statistics came from because this is not the story that my father who is a Colonel in the army tells. This may take awhile so I will have to peace out of the discussion until I can review the facts.

          • My preliminary thoughts on the matter are as follows: What is striking about the second link you provided is that illiteracy in the “Black and other” population went from 79.9% in 1870 to 1.6% in 1979. The 1840 statistics are of unknown quality and clearly don’t include the black population. This should have been obvious to you. I still have to look into it more. But my dad said that there were massive literacy programs in the Army.

    • That’s a bit better. Katy Perry said, “I’m not a feminist, but I do believe in the power of women.” It’s interesting because she’s actually a very powerful woman and has been making some very smart business decisions – including what management company to work with to keep herself at the top of the charts with a string of number one hits. She got her name on a perfume and even an eyelash line.

Is she actually a feminist because she’s not sitting at home taking care of a passel of kids and got a divorce? Being that she made more $$$ than Russell Brand, he’s probably trying to get her $$$…

  6. I’d drop the term “feminism” from “equality feminism”, and invite a broader discussion on what “equality” entails. That will be the subject of another thread, as soon as I get out from under the deluge of work-related projects.

The problem here is that “equality” is itself a canard used by feminists in the pursuit of a larger agenda that has nothing to do with what you or I probably mean when we mention “equality”.

  7. I guess I’m just seeing that it’s the insecure men who get into this game crap. And Roissy takes it to another level… “Be a Skittles Man”???? I would never be with a Skittles man.

I’ve often grappled with what feminism entails, what does it all mean, are there winners and losers here…what I have seen is that in Mexico women are often still treated very badly and I have heard of many of them being absolutely thrilled when their husbands become Christians because they are treated better. Some of that culture is wonderful, but I have overheard men talking about how some of their friends would show off by mistreating their wives in front of their friends and they were sitting around talking about how you can’t treat your wife like that because it just isn’t right. They had no idea I spoke Spanish and was overhearing the conversation.

I’d say the problem with ADHD diagnosis is more to do with the pharmaceutical industry presenting to everyone that they have found the solution to everyone’s problems with this tiny little pill. And people are conditioned to fall for this because it is ingrained in them to trust doctors and western medicine. There have been many miracles with penicillin being a cureall medicine for a number of ills that used to cause death, and with life-saving vaccines. However, the industry sustains itself by making SALES, so they sell pharm reps to doctors, pay out kickbacks for prescriptions, etc.

Right now everyone is a bit touchy about school shootings…so if you have a boy it might be best to make sure he understands that school play and home play have to be different. Call it social skills for boys. Shooting things isn’t so inherent a part of manhood that it ceases to exist without it. Guns certainly didn’t always exist. Boys are kind of funny that way, they do so love to make noises with their mouths. On that note, it’s great to play hard, but boys also have to know when to turn it off and sit their little asses in their seats and do their work. The real pity is that parents don’t seem to back this up anymore. Is that learning like a girl? So be it.

If your child is wrongfully expelled, stand up to the system. Chances are it had to to with the other kid saying that the one defending himself started it.

    • Insecure men? Methinks thou doth protest too much.

In all seriousness, Roissy might be one of the higher-profile voices for “game”, but–let’s face it–he is merely articulating, albeit in crude terms, the reality that exists. Again, I’m not putting either sex down; just articulating the reality. “Game” is just an expression of the obvious: what women are generally attracted to. Are ALL women like that? No. But most are. And that is what matters.

While Big Pharma has its share of the responsibility for the ADHD fiasco, no small part of it also lies at the feet of the educational establishment, which has inserted itself in arenas in which they are not qualified.

As for touchiness about school shootings, a dose of common sense would go a long way. I’m old enough to remember when Reagan got shot. He was shot by a crazy man, and almost died.

Did he use that as a springboard to promote insane, reactionary laws and policies? No. He kept his eye on what was really important.

Almost every boy–at some point in his childhood–shoots everything from imaginary guns to water pistols to Nerf guns–at his friends. They play “cops and robbers”. They play “capture the flag” and “smear the queer”. They shoot “cap guns”, they shoot BB guns, some even shoot .22s. It is normal for boys to be fascinated with guns. It’s part of being boys.

This assault on boys was going on long before the prominent school shootings; Columbine and other incidents have only energized the educational establishment on a whole new level. Rahm Emanuel’s Law–never let a good crisis go to waste–applies here.

As for me, I have two words for the educational etablishment, the first beginning with F.

When we have kids, MrsLarijani and I are homeschooling them.

        • This country was founded by religious nuts with guns. Before there were guns, there were swords, spears, and arrows.

The weapons have changed over the ages, but boys are naturally fascinated with them. Again, it’s part of being boys.

The modern assault on masculinity–a product of EVERY wave of feminism–is an all-out war against reality. Like I said, every other one of their causes–some of which are good, most not so much–is a means to that end.

          There is no “good feminism”.

      • Protest too much? Naw. I can’t say that I give that much of a rip. My husband even thinks that Roissy’s version of game is the realm of insecure men.

        • Sounds like projection to me. You can call them insecure all you wish. But I’ve witnessed exactly the dynamic of which Roissy speaks. And this goes on both in and out of the Church.

And when I speak of Game, I’m not merely speaking of PUAs; guys like Roissy use Game to get laid. And they do it quite successfully. I’ve seen the dynamic many times, and it is effective. This is because women are generally attracted to certain qualities in men. That goes for the nice girl in the church youth group, just as it is true for the secular gal who “hooks up” at frat parties.

Nor does Game apply merely to singles. In marriage, tension is natural, and “nice guys” tend to get steamrolled. The Christian husband has to lead without being a control freak, while at the same time being an accommodator without being a pushover. The husband who doesn’t know how to provide basic pushback is going to be in for a world of hurt.

The upshot: no matter how “egalitarian” women can be, they generally want a man who is going to lead. Even if that leadership includes occasional flashes of assholery.

          • Perhaps it should have a different name for church. As for me, my husband does not play games and I respected that and needed that. Jesus does not encourage “game” confidence yes, games no.

          • That’s the thing: we can call it any number of things. Call it Game. Call it Intersexual Dynamics. Call it whatever. The terms matter less than the dynamics do. And they are based more on percentages than they are on particulars.

Are all women into Game? No. But most are. And it would behoove men to understand that.

Most women are going to employ various “tests”–in the world of Game, they are called other things, but, like I said, the nomenclature is less important than the dynamic itself–during the course of mate selection. Men would do well to be aware of that.

Women are generally hard-wired to challenge the ability of their men to lead. This is part of the curse of the Garden. The men need to be able to respond in a way that asserts leadership without squashing her like a bug.

  8. Generally speaking, though, there is an expectation that students have to STFU, sit their asses in their seats and do their work and show a little respect for the teacher. I can’t see anything directly harmful to a man in that. In fact, those are skills that serve one rather well as say being an engineer.

And that’s the problem with our educational system. Boys tend to be more kinetic learners than girls. Girls tend to be all about the social-emotional connection. Perhaps more boys would be more successful if our educational system allowed for boys to be boys.

ADHD/ADD is one of the most overdiagnosed “diseases”. I don’t blame the pharmacies. I blame the parents and the educational system. Boys are diagnosed with ADHD/ADD more often than girls are. Neither the parents nor the educational system, in general, are content with allowing boys to be boys and encouraging them to be men (of valor).

It goes against the very nature of masculinity to tell a boy/growing man that he ought to sit down, STFU, & do his work. Men were created to have dominion over the earth, not be dominated.

While we are all under authority, man was given a divine responsibility to cultivate, grow, & have dominion over creation. That sort of thing can’t be done sitting down.

Nowadays, both parents tend to work outside the home. In the evenings, they are tired. They want peace & quiet. So when Johnny, Jr. has been at school, having to follow orders while sitting at a desk, staring at the work to do in front of him, he comes home and is told (again) to sit down & shut up.

No wonder men lack balls nowadays. They were removed before they dropped.

    • There is a time and a place for everything. Saying someone is less of a man or a boy because they know when to sit and listen vs. when it’s playtime is absolutely ridiculous.

      • Saying someone is less of a man or a boy because they know when to sit and listen vs. when it’s playtime is absolutely ridiculous

That would be ridiculous if thay was what I said, but that’s not what I said. Not even close. You can’t find any of those words in my previous comment. What you did was a paraphrase of your own making. That’s what Savvy does: twists words just so she can react to something. Why she wants to react to things that have not actually been said, I have yet to figure out.

Anyhow, if you would like to write a real reply to my previous comment, I’ll be happy to hash it out with you. Until then, keep your outlandish paraphrases to yourself..

        • If you can’t respond to the comment that was made, then it is more convenient to respond to the comment you wish someone made. Didn’t you get the memo?

        • You basically associated being a boy or man to not sitting still. So that basically precludes him from learning anything in a seated position. I knew plenty of wonderful boys when I was a kid who were very active in sports and very accomplished in academics. So if you think I am twisting things around that’s your own spin and it makes no sense to me at all.

  9. You basically associated being a boy or man to not sitting still.

I did do that. Good job for tracking!

So that basically precludes him from learning anything in a seated position.

If he is being forced to sit all day long, then come home to a situation where both parents are exhausted where he is expected to sit down & shut up, then learning is going to be more difficult for him because he has no outlet.

I knew plenty of wonderful boys when I was a kid who were very active in sports and very accomplished in academics.

And you just proved my point!! These boys HAD AN OUTLET! They weren’t being forced sit all day and then expected to sit some more when they were home! They were allowed to play sports! Many of them!

Not all boys get that outlet, though. Many do not. In fact, if you look through your high school yearbook and count the number of boys in your class that were in sports vs. those that were not, the latter is probably much higher.

However, if our educational system/model was tweaked a little bit, more boys who aren’t atheletic could do very well academically.
